The Religious Education Program of Our Lady of Sorrows Parish is dedicated to teaching the faith of the Roman Catholic Church to our youth with excellent volunteer catechists from our parish family.

Thank you for sending your child/children to the O.L.S. Parish Religious Education program. Students will learn the importance of our faith in the context of a community. We look forward to enriching classes that help our students grow closer to God and learn about the love of Jesus. Our goal is that your child/children will learn the important tenets of the Catholic religion and learn to love the genuine practice of our faith.
Children prepare for the Sacraments of Reconciliation and Holy Communion in first and second grade, and receive these sacraments in second grade. Confirmation is also a two year program and students will receive Confirmation in the eighth grade. A full two years of preparation is necessary before receiving these sacraments.
We are looking forward to a great program that includes parent involvement, family catechesis and service opportunities.
Religious Education classes are offered on Sunday Mornings
Session 1:
Sundays 8:30am – 9:45am
(drop off no earlier than 8:20am)
Session 2:
Sundays 10:15 – 11:30am
(drop off no earlier than 10:05am)
Registration/Tuition Fees
$175 for one child;
$300 for 2 children
$400 for 3 children or more
Sacraments
In addition to the registration fee, a sacrament fee must also be paid per child
First Holy Communion: $150
Confirmation: $200
Payment is required at the time of registration through WeShare.
DEADLINE TO REGISTER to August 15, 2025
All properly completed registration forms, along with tuition and sacrament fees must be received by August 15, 2025. All forms received after August 31, 2025 will incur a late fee of $50. Students inquiring to register after classes have started for the 2025-26 School Year will be evaluated on a case by case basis, depending on class sizes and other factors.
To make the registration process easier, all forms should be submitted online and payment is made through our parish WeShare (electronic giving) link. If you have any questions, please contact the Religious Ed office at olsreligiouseducation920@gmail.com
RE-REGISTRATION INSTRUCTIONS FOR FAMILIES PRESENTLY IN OUR PROGRAM
To register your child/children for classes, all returning families and new families are asked to complete the following:
1. Fill out the Registration form and submit it online
2. Read the Parent Handbook on the link below and submit the form
indicating you have read it.
3. Pay tuition fee(s) and sacrament fee(s) if applicable via the WeShare link below. Payment is required at the time of registration.
4. If your child has an IEP for the upcoming school year, you must also submit the IEP form to the Religious Education Coordinator by emailing a copy to olsreligiouseducation920@gmail.com Please include your child’s name, grade and IEP form on the subject line of the email.
NEW FAMILY REGISTRATION INFORMATION
WE WELCOME NEW FAMILIES TO OUR PROGRAM EACH YEAR!
In order to register for our Program, the students family must be registered members of Our Lady of Sorrows Church. If the student has participated in a different religious education program, his/her records must be transferred to our Program. Please follow the instructions below:
1. If you are not a registered member of Our Lady of Sorrows Parish, please email Holly at the parish office olscc@optonline.net who will assist you in joining O.L.S. You must complete the Parish registration Form (see link bellow) and send to Holly. You must be a registered member of this parish to enroll your child/children in our Religious Education program.
2. A copy of Baptismal certificate should be scanned and emailed for first graders and new students in other grades to olsreligiouseducation920@gmail.com Please include your child’s name, grade and Baptism certificate in the subject line.
After you complete steps 1 and 2, please follow the directions for all Current Families to complete the Registration process.
CLASS PLACEMENT
Parish Religious Education Programs are preparation for life. Students are expected to attend religious education classes continuously from grades 1 through 8. Any student who drops out of the Program after receiving First Communion will be required to complete grade level(s) missed, unless he/she has participated successfully in another program. Final decision regarding class placement will be made in consultation with the religious Education Coordinator and Pastor.
